The CPNP Foundation’s 2016 Annual Giving Campaign kicks-off with this issue of Kaleidoscope. While there are many ways that one can contribute to making the lives of patients with psychiatric and neurologic disorders better, I am asking each CPNP member to make a generous contribution to the CPNP Foundation Annual Fund at this time.
The Foundation envisions a world in which individuals with psychiatric and neurologic disorders receive optimal treatment, live free of stigma, and achieve their full potential. Our mission focuses on the needs of individuals living with psychiatric and neurologic disorders, their families, and health professionals in general practice settings to further evidence-based treatment. Our core goals center on advancing best treatments and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Foundation in all of its work. In addition, the Foundation continues to be committed to providing registration/travel grants students to help them attend the 2017 Annual Meeting in Phoenix.

The majority of the Foundation’s goals from the original strategic plan have been accomplished. Therefore, in the Fall of 2016 the Foundation will meet to develop a new Strategic Plan. While the new Strategic Plan will guide and direct the efforts of the Foundation in 2017, current initiates will receive ongoing attention. For example, in 2016/2017, the Foundation’s research collaboration with Dr. Vincent Giannetti and his research team at Duquesne University School of Pharmacy will work to publish their results of their project. The study results should help us to better understand and address the stigma our patients are confronted with in community pharmacy settings. The Mental Health Pharmacy Directory will be maintained, populated with additional pharmacies and further developed.
Clearly, the Foundation has accomplished much and will take another stride forward with its new strategic plan. I am always amazed by our wonderful membership and their support of the Foundation. Therefore, I ask that you continue to support the important work of the Foundation by giving generously. Make your contribution now, so your gift will be recorded for the current fiscal year and will support the work of the Foundation throughout 2017.
