2022 Timeline

  • Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Central Time, August 31, 2022
  • Grants announced October 1, 2022
  • Abstract submissions* due for AAPP Annual Meeting (early January 2023)
  • Research posters to be presented during AAPP Annual Meeting (April 16-19, 2023)
  • Written reports due on or before May 4, 2023

Grant Criteria

  1. The scope of the proposal must be consistent with the vision and mission of the Foundation.
  2. The project must be completed by a student, a resident, or a fellow. One individual will submit the application as the representative for the chapter or project team.
  3. Applicants must have a faculty member or residency/fellowship program advisor who will be responsible for overseeing the project and managing the budget.
  4. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged.
  5. Applicant's CV and a letter of support from a faculty member, residency/fellowship program advisor, and/or institutional administrator must be uploaded as part of the grant application.
  6. Applicants may include up to $500 for registration and travel to the AAPP 2023 Annual Meeting in their itemized budget.**
  7. Preference will be given to projects that include a presentation and publication schedule in the proposal.
  8. CPNP/AAPP membership is required at the time of submission for all applicants.
  9. AAPP Foundation grant policies apply.

Reporting Requirements

  1. An abstract must be submitted for poster consideration (early Jan. 2023 deadline) at the AAPP Annual Meeting. If accepted, the submitting author will present a poster during the assigned poster session. A PDF copy of the poster must be uploaded online as instructed by CPNP/AAPP.
  2. During the assigned poster session at the AAPP Annual Meeting, the grant recipient will present their research and findings to a Foundation Board Member. 
  3. A written report must be submitted to the AAPPF Board on or before May 4, 2023 and should include a reconciled budget wtih final expenses. Additional reporting items include:
    • Background and Details-what, why, impact, audience, final budget, timeline
    • Results-findings, impact
    • Future recommendations-next possible phases
    • Pictures and/or video (if applicable)

*Poster abstract submissions are made through AAPP's usual electronic poster submission process to be peer-reviewed by the abstracts and awards committee. The accepted grant recipient posters will be displayed in the poster hall at the assigned time during the AAPP Annual Meeting.

**Defining the Future recipients will not be eligible for additional registration or travel grants to AAPP 2023 from the AAPP Foundation.
